Build a Base and Steal Base Building Guide

A strong base is not simply a tall pile of blocks. Build a Base and Steal asks you to protect income-producing pets against players carrying destructive gear, so every piece should either slow entry, hide the target, expose the attacker, or shorten your own response. This guide separates confirmed materials and defenses from layout advice, then gives you a repeatable way to test a build before risking a valuable pet.

Know which building parts are actually confirmed

The official Roblox gamepass catalog names Stone Blocks, Brick Blocks and Gold Blocks inside developer-authored pack descriptions. It also names Spikes and a Laser Door. These are safer facts than an unofficial block tier list because they come from products attached to the correct universe and creator group. The catalog does not publish a complete material roster, hit-point table, placement limit or exact damage value, so this guide does not invent those numbers.

A current hands-on guide reports that blocks are rolled at the home base and that rarer blocks are harder to destroy. Treat that as observed gameplay rather than a permanent formula. Updates can rebalance durability. Compare live labels and costs before spending, especially after the Roblox experience receives an update.

Give every layer one of four jobs

The official description explicitly says gear can destroy defenses. That rules out any strategy based on one permanent wall. Build in layers and decide what each layer contributes. An outer layer should reveal the approach. A delay layer should cost the raider time or tool use. A concealment layer should prevent the first opening from revealing the pet pen. An owner route should let you reach the threatened area without following the intruder through your own maze.

More pieces are not automatically more defense. If a corridor delays you as much as the attacker, it may reduce your chance to intercept. If a high wall has a direct opening beside it, the height is mostly decoration. Use the smallest layout that performs all four jobs clearly, then add complexity only when a real raid exposes a specific weakness.

  • Reveal: make the approach visible before the pet area is exposed.
  • Delay: require more than one breach or direction change.
  • Conceal: break the sightline from entrance to valuable pets.
  • Respond: preserve a faster route for the owner than for the raider.

Build a starter layout in five passes

Start with the pet pen, not the perimeter. The position of the asset determines which sightlines and paths matter. Once the pen is placed, walk backward toward the plot edge and choose where an attacker must first change direction. Add the outer shell last so it supports the interior route instead of dictating a maze that is awkward for the owner.

A double wall can add time, a taller section can block an easy jump, and a maze can create uncertainty; all three ideas appear in current gameplay guidance. None should be copied blindly. Test each from the attacker side and remove any segment that provides no extra decision, delay or information.

  1. Place the pet pen

Choose a position that is not immediately readable from the plot edge.

  2. Create an owner lane

Reserve the shortest route you need for collection and defense.

  3. Break the direct sightline

Use an offset, turn or inner layer between entry and pets.

  4. Add a second decision

Make the raider choose another direction after the first breach.

  5. Test both directions

Run from outside to pets, then from your normal position to the intercept point.

Use spikes and doors where they change a decision

A trap placed in an unavoidable transition is more meaningful than several traps scattered where a raider can walk around them. Spikes are confirmed by official pack descriptions, but the public catalog does not state their exact effect. A Laser Door is also confirmed, yet its access and damage rules are not published there. Read the current in-game tooltip before treating either as a guaranteed stop.

Place active defenses where the attacker has already committed: after a turn, beside the second layer, or where the pet route narrows. Avoid relying on one visible trap at the perimeter. That tells the attacker the entire defense plan before they spend anything.

Use every theft as a layout test

After a pet is stolen, replay the route from the first useful event. Did you see the approach? Which piece failed first? Did the opening reveal the pet immediately? Could you reach the breach without entering your own maze? Fix the earliest failure, not the most dramatic moment at the end of the chase.

Change one variable and retest. Adding ten unrelated pieces may hide whether the repair worked. A small change that forces a new route is evidence: it means the old weakness no longer dominates. Keep a cash reserve for these corrections instead of committing every return payout to another roll.

Raid plan

What blocks are confirmed in Build a Base and Steal?

The official Roblox gamepass catalog names Stone Blocks, Brick Blocks and Gold Blocks in developer-authored pack descriptions. It does not provide a complete block list or durability table.

Should I build double walls?

Double walls can add breach time, but only if the second layer changes the route. Test whether it creates another decision instead of simply slowing both the attacker and owner.

Are spikes and laser doors in the game?

Yes. Both are named in official pack descriptions for the correct Roblox universe. Their live stats and placement rules should be checked in game because the public catalog does not publish them.
